Greg Davis leaving SU, destination unknown
After spending two frustrating seasons on the sideline, Syracuse basketball player Greg Davis is finally leaving the bench.
And Syracuse University.
Davis, who never appeared in a Big East game and redshirted last season, said yesterday that he will transfer before next season.
“I am definitely leaving,” Davis said. “My reason for leaving was my decision, not somebody else’s. I do think that the practice I got here will help me to become a better player.”
The 6-foot-7 forward from Tulsa, Okla., declined to comment on which schools he is considering. Earlier in the season, though, Davis indicated that a change of schools would likely bring him closer to home.
Davis came to Syracuse just a year after fellow Booker T. Washington High graduate Etan Thomas departed for the NBA. Davis scored two points during his SU career while appearing in nine games.
Said Davis: “I’m definitely going to think about what I’m getting myself into before I make my decision on another school.”
