Warrick, All-American, signs agent

On the day that Hakim Warrick crowned his college basketball career, he also took his first step toward the NBA.

On Tuesday, Warrick, a forward for the Syracuse men’s basketball team, was named to the Wooden Award All-American Team. He also signed BDA Sports Management to represent him.

Warrick averaged 21.4 points and 8.6 rebounds as Syracuse finished 27-7 after its NCAA Tournament first-round loss to Vermont, 60-57.

BDA, and its President Bill Duffy, represents former Syracuse forward Carmelo Anthony, as well as 2003 first-rounders Yao Ming, Jay Williams and Drew Gooden.

The Wooden Award All-American Team is the eighth all-America team to which Warrick has been named. Warrick has also been recognized as a first-team selection by The Associated Press, CollegeInsider.com, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Rivals.com and the Rupp Award.

The Sporting News and the United States Basketball Writers of America named Warrick to its second team, and Basketball Times named Warrick to its third team.

Warrick also won Big East Conference Player of the Year.
