SU splits with SHU
The Syracuse softball team saved all of its offense for game two of its doubleheader at Seton Hall on Sunday.
SU managed only three hits while being shut out, 1-0, in game one to Seton Hall. Courtney Mosch pitched a four-hit shutout in game two in SU’s 5-0 win.
Senior Shawna Norris hit the game-winning two-run home run in the fourth inning of game two. Mosch scored on the homer after hitting a single to give SU the only run it needed.
Track and Field
Sophomore Sheron Mark won the high jump at the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday with a leap of 1.70 meters. She also finished second in the long jump at 5.84 meters.
Freshman Marcus Vaughn finished second in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.64, qualifying for the IC4A Championship. Ramon Sosa took fourth in the same race at 14.80, also qualifying for the event.
Men’s Rowing
The Rutgers men’s crew defeated No. 16 Syracuse for the third straight year in the Ten Eyck Cup on Saturday. Rutgers finished in 6:07.8 while SU crossed the finish line in 6:10.9.
In the second varsity eight, Syracuse won in 6:23.9.
Syracuse’s top freshman crew won, but the second freshman eight finished just a second behind Rutgers.
Women’s Rowing
The Syracuse women’s rowing team won the 26th Orange Challenge Cup on Saturday in Boston. The Orange finished the 2,000-meter course in 6:31.9, a cup record on the Charles River.
It was SU’s third straight Orange Challenge Cup and fourth in the last five years.
