Popcorn nibblers enjoy wide spectrum of cinema
Splice ran into problems this week when we went to run a film review and realized there had been no advanced screenings for us to actually review. And instead of leaving the page blank and making a statement about present-day films being void of content, we figured that instead, we would get perspectives about what people are watching off the big screen.
Keleigh Nealon, junior broadcast journalism majorMovie: ‘White Noise”I get scared really easily, and it scared me to death. I believe everything I watch pretty much, so I got scared of all the ghosts and all the things that made me jump.’
Lauren Kazmierski, senior broadcast journalism majorMovie: ‘Love Actually”I loved it. It’s such a heartwarming and uplifting movie. It’s just a nice story about people in the holiday season. I would recommend it to people who want to be in a better mood by watching a nice romantic comedy.’
Jessica Watro, sophomore political science and international relations majorMovie: ‘Pretty Woman”It was very good. I liked the whole Cinderella story: poor girl meeting rich man. It was very well done and I would recommend it because it’s a classic movie and everyone should watch it.’
Joel Chapman, junior television, radio and film majorMovie: ‘Steam Bath”It’s a 1972 PBS movie off of a play about a group of people in a steam bath who find out they are dead. I probably wouldn’t recommend it – it’s a little old and I was doing it for idea for a story of mine. It had low production values and was only shot in one room. If you like Bill Bixby, though, you should pick it up.’
Daniel Riti, junior computer engineering majorMovie: ‘Fight Club”The plot is good. The acting is good. It’s very entertaining. Very excellent.’
Alicia Hughes, junior biology and physiology majorMovie: ‘A Cinderella Story”It was cute. I really liked the fairy tale ending and she got her prince at the end. Although I really hate Hillary Duff, I would recommend it, but only if you’re into those cheesy chick flick movies.’
Leila Stahl-Yohalem, junior retail majorMovie: ‘Romeo and Juliet”Amazing. It’s my favorite movie. It’s a good story, it’s exciting and it’s set in the current time of today so you can relate to it. Also, Leonardo DiCaprio is really hot.’
Lynn Wicker, freshman undeclared major in the College of Arts and SciencesMovie: ‘The Notebook”I liked it. It was touching and romantic and very sappy. It was definitely a tear-jerker. I think a lot of people could relate to it and find it to be an enjoyable film; it’s not directed toward one audience over another.’
