Projectors stolen from Crouse Hinds

Two overhead projectors were stolen from Crouse Hinds Hall on April 16 between 8:30 a.m. and noon, according to a Syracuse Police report.

Syracuse police met with a Public Safety officer, who said she believes she may have interrupted the crime as it occurred, the report stated.

The Public Safety officer said she discovered one classroom had its lights turned on at about noon. Because the lights are controlled by motion sensors, she deduced someone must have been in the room only a few minutes ago, according to the report.

She then looked in classroom 001 and noticed the overhead projector was missing. She noticed footprints on a desk with a triangle tread pattern, indicating a possible work boot, the report stated.

An overhead projector in classroom 020 was also found stolen, along with sneaker prints on one of the desks. Because of the difference in footprints, the officer said she thinks at least two persons were involved, according to the report.

Windows in both rooms were found partially open, suggesting they may have been used as an escape route had the burglars been discovered, the report stated.

A senior in The College of Arts and Sciences said she discovered her laptop stolen when she returned to her home from a weekend trip on the 600 block of Ackerman Avenue on April 16 at about 6:30 p.m., according to a Syracuse Police report.

The student said the doors to the house are usually locked and there were no signs of forced entry, the report stated.

One of her roommates said she was not home all weekend. Syracuse police searched her room to negative results, according to the report.

Her other roommate said she was home during the weekend. Syracuse police search her room, also to negative results, the report stated.

A senior in the College of Visual and Performing Arts said he found his car vandalized on the 1200 block of Madison Avenue after attending a party on April 9 at about 2 a.m., according to a Syracuse Police report.

The student said his vehicle’s windshield was smashed, his door was kicked and his passenger side taillight was broken, the report stated.

Total damage to the car is estimated to be $110, according to the report.
