Bill Cosby to perform on Nov. 10
On Nov. 10, University Union will host comedian Bill Cosby at the Landmark Theater.
The event, which will feature Cosby in a 90-minute to two-hour stand-up performance, is co-sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Graduate Student Organization, the Division of Student Affairs and Pulse.
Student pre-sale tickets will be available from Oct. 18 until Oct. 25 at the Schine Box Office. Tickets are $10. Tickets to the general public will go on sale Friday, Oct. 27 for $20 for Syracuse University faculty and staff and $30 for the general public.
‘(Cosby’s) somebody we’ve all kind of grown up with,’ said Laura Turner Garrison, UU Comedy co-chair. ‘Everyone has some childhood memory with him.’
Cosby is most known for his role on ‘The Cosby Show’ and his character in Jell-O commercials, but has also appeared in, directed and produced dozens of motion pictures.
Garrison said she and co-chair Nate Buniva considered comedians known on Comedy Central, such as Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, but ultimately decided Bill Cosby has a wider appeal.
‘He’s a legend. Anyone that doesn’t have a ticket will be sorry,’ said UU President Clarence Cross III. ‘Time is of the essence. You may not have the chance to see him again.’
Garrison said UU will be hosting several promotional contests leading up to the event and will be providing free transportation to the Landmark for the 8 p.m. show.
‘This event is being made possible because Al Gore was so successful,’ Garrison said. ‘It gave them the faith that we could pull something like this off.’
Garrison also said she is excited the pre-sale will occur at the Schine Box Office instead of online. This means there will be no additional service fees from purchasing the tickets through the Internet.
‘We wanted to make it as easy and accessible for students as possible,’ she said.
