SU individual diagnosed with Tuberculosis
The Onondaga County Health Department announced Friday morning that a member of the Syracuse University community had been diagnosed with active tuberculosis, according to a health department statement.
This type of tuberculosis is a treatable, curable disease, according to the statement. The individual is currently being treated.
The individual has not been found to be a threat to the SU community. But public health protocol requires those who may have had certain kinds of contact with the individual receive a cautionary TB* test., according to the statement. About 100 individuals have been identified as needing to receive a precautionary test and will be notified by SU Health Services and the health department.
Only those notified by the health department should be tested, according to the statement.
