What do you think about the smoking ban at the Carousel Center?

‘I think that that’s kind of a crazy thing to say that people can’t even smoke outside. … I don’t really see where that would be a problem.’

Scott HammerSenior public relations major

‘I don’t think the entire center needs to have a smoking ban on it. If you’re an employee, you need to be able to take your smoke break if that’s what you do.’

Emily StanfordSenior history and policy studies major

‘I think the ban in general is a good idea. Because it’s all over the mall and the parking lots, it gives people who need to smoke or are addicted the chance to not feed that addiction.’

Kelina ImamuraFreshman newspaper journalism major

‘I feel like people who do want to smoke, they should have the freedom to walk outside the mall and be able to smoke. I don’t think they should have to go out of the premises just to have a cigarette.’

Eunice CuevasSophomore communication and rhetorical studies major

‘I don’t agree with it because I think it’s taking away people’s liberty. It’s your right if you want to smoke to smoke, and not being able to smoke outside takes away from your right.’

Mariel RosarioJunior psychology major

‘The less smoke people inhale the better. I think that crowds of people smoking outside of Carousel Center don’t really need to happen.’

Julia ChaseJunior music industry major

‘It should be banned inside the mall because a lot of people are in there with their kids, families and stuff like that. But I don’t see the problem with people smoking a couple feet away from the entrance of the mall.’

Jemar SouzaJunior entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises and finance major

‘In public places, smoking shouldn’t be allowed. … There are ‘no smoking’ signs all over the place. I’m totally for the ‘no smoking’ position.’
