SU senior dies in Camillus home Friday
Stepan Dinis, a Syracuse University senior, died in his sleep of an undetected heart condition in his home Friday.
Dinis, a computer science major in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, lived in Camillus, N.Y., just outside of Syracuse.
The Camillus Police Department declined to comment.
‘The loss of a student is painful for all of us, and during a holiday season filled with joy and happiness, it reminds us how precious life can be,’ said SU Chancellor Nancy Cantor in the e-mail to the university community Friday.
‘During this very difficult time, our thoughts are with Stepan’s loved ones and friends.’
Faculty, staff and students can reach the Office of Student Affairs, the Counseling Center, Hendricks Chapel and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program for support.
‘The university comes together in times of grief and shares it,’ said Tom Wolfe, vice president and dean of student affairs.
A funeral for Dinis will be held at the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church in downtown Syracuse Monday at 10 a.m.
