Judge reduces Cater’s bail for burglary charges
Bail for Syracuse University freshman Malcolm Cater was reduced to $5,000 on Wednesday morning, according to the Onondaga County Justice Center’s inmate records.
Cater, 19, was arrested and charged with burglarizing three South Campus apartments on Saturday morning. Judge James Cecile set his bail at $150,000 cash or $300,000 bond in Syracuse City Court Sunday morning.
Judge William Walsh reduced the bail at the request of Assistant District Attorney Kari Armstrong, according to The Post-Standard. Walsh and Armstrong could not be reached for comment by The Daily Orange.
Cater is a former linebacker for SU’s football team. He was removed from the team’s roster Saturday following his arrest. Cater is still enrolled at SU.
