Fine allegations : Federal prosecutors create tip line, seek public’s help in investigation

Federal prosecutors set up an anonymous tip line on Wednesday for the public to call with information regarding the Bernie Fine investigation.

The U.S. attorney’s office released a news advisory with a toll-free tip line phone number, 855-395-1106, and an email address, syroffice@usss.dhs.gov, for people to provide information in the case against the former Syracuse University associate men’s basketball coach. Secret Service members will follow up on any relevant information, according to the release.

Fine is not named in the press release, which refers to ‘a federal investigation into allegations of sexual abuse concerning a former Syracuse University basketball coach.’ However, the press advisory document is titled ‘Fine Press Advisory.’

Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney John Duncan could not be reached for comment.

Fine was fired from the university Nov. 27, following molestation allegations brought forth by three men. Since his termination, a fourth accuser has stepped forward.

Fine has not been charged with any crimes and maintains his innocence.
