FB : Quarterback Wilson commits to Syracuse, 3rd in class of 2013
Austin Wilson, a quarterback out of Pennsylvania, committed to play for Syracuse in 2013 on Sunday.
The junior quarterback at East Pennsboro High School in Enola, Pa., began his tour of college campuses on Friday with an unofficial visit to SU. He was scheduled to visit Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple and Maryland as well, according to the Patriot News, but that tour began and ended in Syracuse, as he gave his verbal commitment to the Orange coaching staff two days after visiting.
Wilson’s commitment gives Syracuse its third verbal commitment for the class of 2013, and fourth new player overall to join the Orange in the past week. Tight end Tyler Provo and defensive tackle Wayne Williams have also committed while wide receiver Quinta Funderburk plans to transfer from Arkansas after redshirting as a freshman last season
Scout.com pegged Wilson at No. 83 in its class of 2013 quarterback rankings, giving the 6-foot-5, 205-pound passer a rating of two stars.
After throwing for 1,954 yards and 20 touchdowns, along with a completion percentage of 56 percent, Wilson displayed his arm strength and precision with his passes.
He will join a quarterback corps looking to replace senior and three-year starter Ryan Nassib. Eastern Michigan was the only other school to offer Wilson a scholarship
