SA organizes free buses to USC games

Syracuse University Athletics announced Wednesday that free transportation will be provided for students to the SU football game against the University of Southern California.

The game will take place on Sept. 8 at 3:30 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Five free buses, provided by Student Association, will leave from the Schine Student Center at 8 a.m. and will depart from the MetLife Stadium 30 minutes after the game ends, according to the Otto’s Army Facebook page. The Alumni Association will also provide participating students with breakfast while on the bus.

Lissa DiPaola, a sophomore biology major, said she definitely plans on using the buses to go to the game against USC with a few of her friends. She said she found out about the sponsored buses from a friend’s Facebook post.

The USC game won’t be the first time DiPaola has taken advantage of university-sponsored transportation to an away game. She also used SU’s bus service to travel to an away football game against Pittsburgh last December.

Meaghan Lane, a sophomore public relations major, said she also plans to take advantage of the free buses.

As a Syracuse native, Lane said she has been attending SU’s home football games since childhood.

“I’ve never missed a home game for as long as I could remember and I’ve been to a few away games as well,” she said.

Game tickets are free for season ticket holders, and single tickets are available for $10.

Vouchers for the bus and for season ticket holders must be picked up at the Carrier Dome’s Gate E ticket booth on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and Wednesday, Sept. 5, from noon to 6 p.m., according to the SU Athletics website.
