Student reports attempted robbery on Lancaster Avenue

An attempted robbery of a student took place on the 900 block of Lancaster Ave. Thursday night.

Two male suspects approached the students and one asked to use his cell phone, but the student said no. One of the suspects then took the student into a driveway between two homes, held something up to his back and again asked for the cell phone and headphones, according to a Department of Public Safety email sent out to all students.

The student then gave the men his belongings and saw that one of the men was holding a black handgun. When the student started to walk away, the suspects gave him his things back and ran north on Lancaster Avenue, according to the email.

DPS is asking for help in identifying the suspects from anyone who was in the area at that time. The incident was reported at 10:40 p.m., according to the email.

The two suspects are described as black males, age 20-22. One suspect was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a charcoal grey sweatshirt and jeans and had a  “thick build,” according to the email. The second suspect approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt and dark blue jeans and had a “slim build.”
