SPD arrests 7 SU students after fight outside of Faegan’s Cafe & Pub
Seven Syracuse University students were arrested early Thursday morning after refusing to follow police orders when a fight broke out outside of Faegan’s Cafe & Pub.
The seven students were arrested on charges that included disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, inciting a riot, harassment, obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
The Syracuse Police Department first arrived to the scene at 1:05 a.m. after receiving a call from Faegan’s regarding a crowd of about 15 people. The group had been drinking and arguing in the bar’s parking lot and refused to leave the property, police said.
The crowd continued to stay after officers arrived and ordered them to leave. Members of the small crowd then attempted to fight Faegan’s employees as SPD officers broke up the group, police said.
The fight attracted the attention of about 300 people. Additional SPD and Department of Public Safety officers came to help break up the crowd, police said.
Police arrested eight people who refused to disperse and continued to violate the law. Police said the eight people who were arrested were SU students. But one person, Tarik Bell, isn’t listed in the SU directory.
The seven students and Bell were then taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center, police said. They were arraigned later Thursday in Syracuse City Court.
