Syracuse football earned a 958 Academic Progress Rate score and the men’s basketball team scored a 933. Both numbers are four-year averages.
The NCAA released its APR report Tuesday. The report monitors eligibility, graduation and retention rates of each Division I team.
A four-year average of 900 is required to maintain postseason eligibility. For the 2014-15 postseasons that number will rise to 930 and a 940 two-year average will also be required.
The football team’s rolling average peaked in 2004-05 and decreased slightly each year until 2009-10. It has risen every year since and tied its second-highest rating this year.
The men’s basketball team’s score has steadily decreased from 967 in 2004-05, bottoming out in the 2008-09 season when the NCAA assessed an immediate penalty by taking away two scholarships. The team’s score increased in the following two years before dipping slightly in 2011-12.
