Syracuse obliterates McGill in first preseason game
C.J. Fair dropped 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 11 minutes as the Orange doubled up McGill, 80-40, in a game as lopsided as it was supposed to be.
Fair appeared to twist his left ankle in the first half and didn’t return in the second. He left the game with an ice pack taped to his ankle, but Syracuse didn’t need him in the second half. The Orange built a 47-16 lead in the first and never looked back, cruising to an easy win.
Sophomore Jerami Grant finished with 17 points to lead all scorers. Freshman point guard Tyler Ennis started his first game alongside redshirt sophomore Trevor Cooney, junior Rakeem Christmas, sophomore DaJuan Coleman and Fair. Ennis scored 11 points, playing with fellow freshmen B.J. Johnson and Ron Patterson toward the end of the game.
Syracuse continues its exhibition tour against Bishop’s University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
