Syracuse continued its four-game exhibition tour through Canada on Thursday night with a 77-35 win over Bishop’s University. Freshman forward B.J. Johnson led the Orange with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting while redshirt sophomore Trevor Cooney finished with 13 points.

Senior forward C.J. Fair, who suffered a lower left leg injury on Wednesday night against McGill University, did not play for precautionary reasons.

SU outplayed the Gaiters from start to finish. The Orange started the game on a 20-0 run, before the Gaiters hit a three with 1:38 remaining in the first quarter. Cooney scored eight points during the stretch, and freshman guard Tyler Ennis scored four points and had three assists. SU led 22-5 at the end of the 10-minute frame.

Syracuse played even better in the second quarter, holding the Gaiters to a mere three points. Ennis and Johnson hit back-to-back threes, and center DaJuan Coleman and guard Michael Gbinije each chipped in four points. Syracuse held a commanding 48-8 halftime lead.

Bishop’s had its best run to start the second half. The Gaiters opened the third quarter with seven unanswered points. Jerami Grant responded with six points for the Orange and Syracuse continued the onslaught. The Orange led by 41 points, with the score 59-18, at the end of three.

The Orange began the fourth quarter on a 16-4 run, which brought the score to 75-28. The 47-point margin was SU’s largest lead of the night.

Bishop’s center Mike Andrews led the Gaiters with 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting.

Syracuse continues its Canadian exhibition tour on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. against Carleton. The Orange will conclude the trip on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. against the University of Ottawa.
