Syracuse earns No. 7 spot in Coaches Poll
Syracuse earned the No. 7 spot in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll released on Thursday. The Orange received 551 points, 72 fewer than Kansas and one more than Florida.
On Wednesday, media members voted SU as the No. 2 team in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind Duke, who is fourth in the national poll. Kentucky is ranked No. 1, Michigan State is No. 2 and Louisville is No. 3. Five ACC teams are in the Top 25, including No. 11 North Carolina and No. 22 Notre Dame. The ranking is SU’s highest since 2011-12 when it entered the season as the No. 5 team in the nation.
Syracuse returns ACC Preseason Player of the Year C.J. Fair, Jerami Grant and Baye Moussa Keita, among others, in its first season in the ACC. The Orange is coming off a trip to the Final Four and a 30-win season. SU’s first regular season game is Friday Nov. 8 against Cornell at 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
