3-star defensive back Prater verbally commits to Syracuse
After his official visit this weekend, three-star defensive back Treevon Prater verbally committed to Syracuse on Sunday.
Prater is a native of East Saint Louis, Ill., and attends East. Saint Louis Senior High School. At 6 feet, 2 inches and 180 pounds, he is listed by Scout.com as a wide receiver, cornerback and safety, and by Rivals.com as an athlete.
Prater initially verbally committed to Western Michigan as a wide receiver, but recently reopened his commitment to consider offers from Syracuse, Kansas, Illinois State and Indiana State.
If the Orange plans to use him as a defensive back — which seems likely — he is the second safety and third cornerback in the Orange’s incoming class. He’ll join safety Rodney Williams and cornerbacks Cordell Hudson and Lamar Dawson.
