Beat writers predict Syracuse to beat Pittsburgh by double digits

Syracuse has gone unscathed through its conference slate and Stephen Bailey, David Wilson and Trevor Hass predict that Saturday will bring more of the same.

Scaredy cats
The Panthers haven’t faced a ranked team yet, and they won’t beat one Saturday. Syracuse pulls away from Pitt in the second half with the same stingy defense its played late in games all year. And if the Panthers do hit some shots, C.J. Fair will have them beat from the baseline.

Hello, darkness my old friend
The Orange has come to talk with you again — only this time SU makes a statement against the Panthers. Tyler Ennis and Fair come up with bounce-back performances and the defense keeps playing like it has. No one has a chance against Syracuse when all of that is happening.

Trevor Hass: Syracuse 71, Pittsburgh 60
Pitt stain
Pitt puts up a fight, but Syracuse survives. Jamie Dixon’s familiarity with the Orange gives the Panthers a fighting chance, but the talent gap is simply too much. Syracuse pulls away late despite a strong effort inside from Talib Zanna.
