2-star defensive tackle Samuels signs letter of intent to play at Syracuse
After visiting this past weekend, two-star defensive tackle Kayton Samuels signed his letter of intent to play at Syracuse on Wednesday.
National signing day hasn’t held too many surprises for the Orange, as Samuels and three-star offensive tackle Denzel Ward are the only two players to ink to SU that weren’t verbally committed before Wednesday.
According to Scout.com, Samuels also received offers from Boise State, Florida International and Tulane, among other schools.
At 6 feet, 2 inches and 289 pounds, Samuels is undersized for a defensive tackle. But he makes up for that with speed, as Scout lists his 40-yard-dash time at 4.9 seconds.
He attends Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia, Ga., and joins linebacker Jonathan Thomas as the second Georgia native to pledge to the Orange for 2014. Samuels also joins two-star recruits Wayne Williams and Jalen Harvey as the third defensive tackle in the incoming class.
