Dixon earns ACC Co-Specialist of the Week honors
Syracuse punter Riley Dixon was named an Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Specialist of the Week on Tuesday after throwing the game-winning touchdown pass on a fake-field goal in Syracuse’s win on Friday night. The senior shares the honor with Louisville’s Corvin Lamb.
In the second overtime against Villanova, Dixon rolled to his left and hit tight end Kendall Moore to put the Orange ahead for good. Dixon also punted five times during SU’s 27-26 win for 217 yards, an average of 43.4 yards per punt. Two of his punts traveled further than 50 yards and two were downed inside the 20-yard line.
The Specialist of the Week honor is the first for Dixon, who has been on the watch list the past two seasons for the Ray Guy Award for best punter in the country.
Lamb, a running back, returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in the Cardinals’ 31-13 victory over Miami on Monday night.
