A student was robbed by an unknown man on Ostrom Avenue early Wednesday morning in the first reported robbery of the semester.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, the student reported that he was walking alone and headed north when the robber approached him from behind in the 800 block of Ostrom Avenue, according to the Department of Public Safety. The suspect put the student in a chokehold and demanded the student’s money. He then pushed the student to the ground and fled on foot. The student did not sustain any injuries, DPS said.

The suspect is a man and there is no further description. He was last seen heading south on Ostrom Avenue toward Berkley Drive away from campus, DPS said.
