Syracuse quarterback Terrel Hunt will miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured fibula, the program announced in an email late Monday morning.

The email contained a statement from SU head coach Scott Shafer, who also announced that quarterbacks coach Tim Lester will be promoted to offensive coordinator and George McDonald will have a singular role as the team’s wide receivers coach.

“(Lester) will take charge of the play calling and the development of our young quarterbacks as we move forward without Terrel Hunt as he works to rehab his injury,” Shafer said in the release. “Terrel sustained a fracture to his fibula on in the game against Louisville. He is expected to be out of activity for 4-6 weeks.”

Hunt left Syracuse’s 28-6 loss to Louisville on Friday in the fourth quarter and couldn’t put much weight on his left leg while being helped off by trainers. He never returned to the game, and Austin Wilson played in two series in his absence. Wilson is the second quarterback on the Orange’s current depth chart, and took over when Hunt was ejected against Villanova in SU’s season-opening win.

Who will start for Syracuse against No. 1 Florida State at noon in the Carrier Dome on Saturday has yet to be announced.
