Stay Fly: Pulp’s picks for looking fresh while flying
Renee Zhou | Asst. Photo Editor
We all know how traveling home for winter break goes— it’s miserable. But despite the crying babies and zero legroom, you can still arrive looking fresh and flawless and stay within the Transportation Security Administration liquid limit. Pulp has you covered the next time you take flight.
1. Smith’s Minted Rose Lip Balm
How much: $7.00
Where to buy: Sephora
This lip balm is the perfect solution for chapped lips. Apply it regularly to combat the dry air on the plane. The mint helps heal irritation, so you can even use it for elbows or hands. If you can’t get this exact product, any lip balm labeled as “medicated” will work just as well.
2. Evian Mineral Water Spray
How much: 2 for $12.99
Where to buy: Ulta
Planes are notoriously dry. Use this mineral water spray to keep your skin hydrated and your makeup intact. Spray it periodically, especially before you land. It’ll wake you up and give your skin a nice glow.
3. Victoria’s Secret Eau de Parfum Rollerball
How much: $18
Where to buy: Victoria’s Secret
You never know if the guy next to you is going to bring McDonald’s onto the plane and make your clothes smell gross for the rest of the flight. Using a rollerball will help you cover up any odd smells. Put it on right before you land.
4. Trader Joe’s Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream
How much: 3 for $7.99
Where to buy: Trader Joe’s
Your hands will probably get dry, too, so pick a hand cream instead of lotion. Cream is thicker, so it’ll work better. Pick one with a more natural scent so you don’t irritate the people around you.
5. Batiste Dry Shampoo
How much: $3.99
Where to buy: Ulta
Dry shampoo is great for making it look like you just blow-dried your hair. Hair can get flat and greasy during travel, so use this in the plane bathroom before you land. Spray it on and comb it through with your fingers.
