Syracuse junior forward DaJuan Coleman will not play this season, SU head coach Jim Boeheim said on the Atlantic Coast Conference coaches’ teleconference on Monday.

Boeheim said that Coleman has had soreness in his surgically repaired knee in the last few days. Boeheim said on Dec. 22 that it looked likely that Coleman will redshirt this season, and that is increasingly likely now that Coleman has been ruled out for the season by the head coach.

When asked if the Orange had reached an “official” decision on Coleman, Boeheim said that it was “as far as he’s concerned unless something radical happens.” Then he added that he doesn’t expect anything to change.

Coleman, a former McDonald’s All-American out of nearby Jamesville-Dewitt (New York) High School, injured his knee in December of 2013 and missed almost all of conference and postseason play.

Without Coleman this season, SU has relied heavily on Rakeem Christmas, Chris McCullough and Tyler Roberson in the frontcourt. Sophomore center Chinonso Obokoh has played sparingly when the other forwards have gotten into foul trouble.
