Former Syracuse goalkeeper Alex Bono says he’s been told he’ll get a lot of minutes for Toronto FC against English Premier League powerhouse Manchester City on Wednesday night, which will be Bono’s Major League Soccer debut.
Bono was drafted No. 6 overall in the 2015 MLS Draft, but has spent the first part of his professional career with Toronto FC II, his club’s United Soccer League side, along with former SU defender Skylar Thomas.
Wednesday’s game is an exhibition, the reason Bono is likely to see significant minutes, and part of ESPN’s Summer Soccer Series. It will be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
Man City finished second out of 20 teams in the English Premier League this season, and the EPL is highly regarded as the best league in the world.
