Student reports attempted robbery on Comstock Avenue
A Syracuse University student has reported an attempted robbery on the 1000 block of Comstock Avenue Tuesday night around 6:20 p.m.
The student reported that he was walking southbound on Comstock when four to five men, walking northbound, approached him and one of the men asked to use his cell phone, according to the Department of Public Safety. The student declined and walked away before one of the suspects grabbed the student’s backpack and tried to take it, according to DPS.
The student was able to maintain control of his backpack following a struggle, but did sustain minor injuries, including abrasions to his right arm from the strap of the backpack. The student refused medical attention, according to DPS. The suspects, who made no threat of a weapon, fled the scene following the struggle and headed northbound on Comstock toward the SU campus, according to DPS.
The suspects are described as 12 to 14 years of age and one suspect had on a black t-shirt, according to DPS. No further description was given.
