Syracuse has been awarded two games on ESPN’s Big Monday for the 2015-16 season, Jan. 18 at Duke and Feb. 29 at North Carolina. Both games will be at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Head coach Jim Boeheim is suspended for SU’s first nine conference games, including the game at Duke. He announced in March that he would appeal the part of the suspension that restricts him from the Orange’s practices, but accepted not being allowed to coach in games.
Last season, the Orange lost to Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, 73-54. SU also fell to the Tar Heels at the Dean Smith Center, 93-83. Syracuse is one of four schools to have two appearances on Big Monday, along with Louisville, Virginia and Miami.
This marks the third year the Atlantic Coast Conference is part of Big Monday. The Big 12 has been paired with Big Monday for the past 19 years and will be featured in the 9 p.m. game this season.
In the 2014-15 season, Syracuse went 18-13 overall, 9-9 in the ACC and self-imposed a postseason ban as a result of the NCAA investigation. This season, though, SU brings in four ESPN Top 100 recruits and returns 80 percent of its starting lineup from the end of last year.
