Overview
Key players
John Wolford became the first true freshman to start all 12 games in a season for Wake Forest in 2014 and set school records for most attempts, completions, yards, touchdown passes and completion percentage by a true freshman quarterback. In Wake Forest’s first game of the season, he accounted for 386 of the team’s 591 yards, including a 70-yard run.
Brandon Chubb is Wake Forest’s active career leader in tackles and was second on the team with 109 tackles in 2014. Chubb was on the Rotary Lombardi Award preseason watch list for the nation’s best lineman or linebacker.
Big numbers
The Demon Deacons lost all six of their road games in 2014, including a 43-3 beating at Florida State. The closest they came to a win was a season-opening 17-10 loss at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Wake Forest allowed just 151 yards — 100 yards passing and 51 yards rushing — in a 41-3 win over Elon last week.
