Starting tight end Josh Parris is out for the rest of Syracuse’s game against Wake Forest with an upper-body injury, Syracuse Athletics announced early in the second quarter Saturday. The news was first reported by WAER Sports.
Parris, a junior, caught a 9-yard pass on the Orange’s first possession. He’s backed up by Kendall Moore on Syracuse’s two-deep depth chart and junior Cameron MacPherson is also an option.
Just after Parris was ruled out for the game, SU defensive end Donnie Simmons returned an interception for a touchdown to give Syracuse a 13-7 lead. Then a 6-yard touchdown run from Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford nudged the Demon Deacons ahead 14-7 with 9:20 left in the second quarter.
Freshman tight end Trey Dunkelberger said in an Instagram post early Saturday that he’s out with a concussion. Dunkelberger did not play against Rhode Island in Week 1.
