FSU QB Everett Golson out against Syracuse with concussion symptoms
Florida State starting quarterback Everett Golson won’t play against Syracuse due to minor lingering concussion symptoms, ESPN’s Todd McShay reported Saturday morning. FSU’s official twitter account confirmed the news.
Backup Sean Maguire will start in his place. The junior has completed seven of eight passes this year for 73 yards and a touchdown. Last year, Maguire led FSU to a 23-17 overtime win against Clemson after then-starter Jameis Winston was suspended for yelling an obscenity from a table in the student union.
The No. 17 Seminoles (6-1, 4-1 Atlantic Coast) are also without starting running back Dalvin Cook due to an ankle injury. Golson, a transfer from Notre Dame, has thrown for 1,659 yards and 11 touchdowns this year. He has only thrown one interception in 207 pass attempts.
Golson wasn’t listed on FSU’s pregame injury report. The Orange (3-4, 1-2) and Seminoles kick off at noon on ABC.
