Weekend Plans: Watch ‘Heathers: The Musical,’ run in Powder to the People

First Year Players presents “Heathers: The Musical”

FYP will be performing “Heathers: The Musical” at 8 p.m. April 14–16 in Goldstein Auditorium. “Heathers: The Musical” is based on the 1988 cult classic film “Heathers” starring Winona Ryder. The story is a dark comedy that involves a high school girl and her new bad boy boyfriend taking down the popular crowd. Tickets are $4 with an SUID and $7 without one at the Schine Box Office.
Reel Queer Film Festival will screen six films

This is the 17th year the festival has been at SU. It will take place in Shaffer Art Building’s Shemin Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Friday with “Sins Invalid” before its kickoff reception at 8 p.m. Cara Levine, a graduate student in counseling and counselor education, said that the films screened will showcase developments within the global queer community. Later on Friday there will be a speaker and a screening of “Kuma Hina.” Saturday and Sunday will also feature two films each and speakers throughout the day. Roller derby players, OMG WTF and Bonny Thunders will also be hosting an informal Q&A and meet-and-greet on Saturday.
Students run in Powder to the People
The run starts Saturday at 11 a.m. in Thornden Park, and registration starts at 10 a.m. The start of the course and the registration table will be located at the E.M. Mills Rose Garden. The first 75 people to register will get receive a free T-shirt. Engineers Without Borders is running the event, and the proceeds are going to their project in Las Majadas, Guatemala.
