Class of 2017 Buffalo linebacker Isaiah McDuffie picks Boston College hours after decommitting from Syracuse

Class of 2017, 3-star linebacker Isaiah McDuffie decommitted from Syracuse on Tuesday night. Eighteen hours later, he chose Boston College. If McDuffie eventually signs with the Eagles, he will play Atlantic Coast Conference rival Syracuse every year of his college career.

The Buffalo, New York recruit from Bennett High School originally committed to former Orange head coach Scott Shafer in July 2015.

“If I made the decision early, I could just work on getting better and I don’t have to worry about committing to a school,” McDuffie told The Daily Orange last July. “I can just focus more on getting better.”

He was SU’s second commit in his class at the time. McDuffie also becomes the second Shafer recruit to decommit in a month. Shafer’s first commit, Daewood Davis, who once had a dream of winning the national championship at Syracuse, flipped to Florida Atlantic on April 20.

Defensive end Zach Morton, quarterback Tommy Devito and receiver Sharod Johnson are the only three players left in Syracuse’s 2017 recruiting class.

He also holds offers from Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State and Pittsburgh.
