Class of 2017 linebacker Isaiah McDuffie has decommitted from Syracuse, he announced in a tweet on Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Bennett (New York) High School prospect originally committed to Syracuse under former head coach Scott Shafer in July 2015. He was SU’s second commit in the 2017 class. Since Shafer was fired in December 2015, both McDuffie and Daewood Davis, the first commit in the class, have parted ways with SU.

“If I made the decision early, I could just work on getting better and I don’t have to worry about committing to a school,” McDuffie told The Daily Orange last July. “I can just focus more on getting better.”
McDuffie leaves defensive end Zach Morton, quarterback Tommy Devito and receiver Sharod Johnson as the only SU commit from the 2017 class.
McDuffie, rated three stars by Scout.com, has offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State and Pittsburgh. According to Scout, he made a verbal commitment to Boston College on Tuesday.
