Syracuse (5-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast) won its ACC opener at North Carolina State (1-3, 0-1), 2-0, on Friday night. The Orange is a perfect 5-0 to start its season, the first time that’s happened since 1984.
SU opened up its scoring in the 16th minute when Chris Nanco found the back of the net. It was his fourth goal on the year. He scored four goals all of last season.
Later on in the 74th minute, Oyvind Alseth scored his goal of the year after curling a corner kick straight in. It gave Syracuse the 2-0 lead it would hold for the rest of the game.
SU only got three shots on goal, but two of them ended up being scores. Goalie Hendrik Hilpert made four saves for the Orange.
Syracuse returns home for a matchup with Hofstra at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
