Event: Decay: Abandonment in Upstate NY
When: Friday, 6-8 p.m.
Where: SALTQuarters
Desc.: An artist talk and reception featuring the work of Alexa Murray, who took photos of the Syracuse area from 2015 through 2017. Her work will feature the increasing number of abandoned buildings with pictures of both the inside and outside.
Event: Syracuse Chiefs vs. Norfolk Tides
When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1:05 p.m.
Where: NBT Bank Stadium
Desc.: Watch as the Chiefs, a minor-league team for the Washington Nationals, take on the Baltimore Orioles’ Norfolk Tides.
Event: DWC Visiting Author Readings: Poet Carl Dennis

Where: YMCA of Downtown Syracuse
Desc.: Carl Dennis is the author of 12 books of poetry and a Pulitzer Prize winner. He will read his poems, and introduce new book, “Night School.”
Event: Spring Film Fest 2017

Desc.: Presented by Syracuse International Film Festival, this festival will feature 30 films. Two films will make their central New York premiere.

Where: Funny Bone Comedy Club and Restaurant
Desc.: Comedian Pauly Shore has been performing since he was a kid in his parents’ comedy store in Hollywood. He later had his own show, “Totally Pauly” on MTV.
Event: TEDxSyracuseUniversity: Switch
When: Saturday, 1-5 p.m.
Where: Slocum Auditorium
Desc.: The 2017 conference, Switch, will feature talks from Lakshmi Sundar, Vasilios Lambos, Gus Naughton, Colby Sutter, Bikash Regmi and Ashley Kang.
Event: Animal Years and Parsonsfield

Where: The Westcott Theater
Desc.: Brooklyn-based indie band Animal Years and Massachusetts-based band Parsonsfield will bring their unique sounds to Syracuse this weekend.
Event: Book Launch of Diatribe from the Library
When: Sunday, 1-3 p.m.
Where: ArtRage Gallery
Desc.: Celebrate Farrell Greenwald Brenner’s debut book of poetry, “Diatribe from the Library,” which features poems against racism and the patriarchy as well burdensome homework assignments. Food and beverages will be served.
Event: 2017 Organ Crawl
