NYPIRG promotes Her Story Drive, Hunger and Homelessness campaign
As a nonprofit student-run advocacy organization which has been operated for over 40 years, New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) is running several programs such as High Education Protection, Environmental Protection, Consumer Protection and Hunger and Homelessness. During the month of March, we focused on the Hunger and Homelessness program. To show our support for women, we decided to hold a drive collecting items for women in the Syracuse community titled the Her Story Drive, which was an essential step to benefit both the community and the students.
For our Her Story Drive, we decided to collect feminine hygiene products and women’s clothes. Those collected products include tampons, pads, toothbrushes, toilet paper and shampoo. In order to bring in as many proceeds as possible, NYPIRG dropped off boxes in all of the student dorms.
We have already collected more than 3,000 items for women at Syracuse University. The items include clothes, pads and tampons, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, hand sanitizing wipes and baby products. These items will be donated directly to the Vera House, Dorothy Day House and SUNY-ESF campus initiatives.
Thanks for your generous donations. We really appreciate it. If you would like to get involved with the Hunger and Homelessness campaign, please contact Joi James.
