Syracuse (3-3, 1-0 Atlantic Coast) fell two spots in the Inside Lacrosse rankings to No. 15 in the country following a 14-10 loss on the road against now-No. 11 Rutgers (6-2, 0-0 Big Ten).
The Orange has now dropped two-straight games and nine spots in the rankings after defeating then-No. 4 Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, on March 4 and reaching a season-high ranking of No. 6.
Elsewhere around the ACC, Duke (8-1) remained at No. 3 this week following two wins over Towson and Cleveland State. Notre Dame (4-1, 1-0) remained at No. 4 following a 9-7 win over now-No. 10 Virginia (6-2, 0-2). The Cavaliers fell one spot following the loss. And No. 20 North Carolina continues to crumble — the Tar Heels fell six spots following an 11-10 defeat at Richmond.
Syracuse is now 2-3 against ranked opponents this season and is in need of a win to right the ship. This weekend provides an opportunity, as SU travels down south to take on the Blue Devils and the nation’s third-best offense.
