In her first competitive appearance since the NCAA Championships last spring, Paige Stoner finished first in the women’s mile at the Upstate Challenge in Ithaca.

Stoner was one of three individual winners on the women’s team, running the mile in 4:53.15, as the team placed third with 71 points. Alexis Crosby (25.42) won the 200-meter dash, while Alexis Harper (26.24) placed second. Another win for the team came from Eunice Boateng, who ran the 60-meter dash in 7.67 seconds.

On the men’s side, Joseph Eovaldi and Stephen Schulz finished first and second, respectively in the 3000-meter dash. Eovaldi won with a time of 8:46.56. The Orange picked up another victory in the distance medley, beating Cornell by almost 40 seconds. Andrew Aguilera had a strong performance in the 60-meter hurdles, placing second with a time of 8.24 seconds.

Overall, the men’s team didn’t fare as well as the women’s team, placing fourth with 68 points.

Both teams will look to improve on their performance as they travel to Boston next Friday to compete in the John Thomas Invitational.
