Emily Hawryschuk and Nicole Levy were both named as one of 50 players on the women’s Tewaaraton Award watch list. 40 percent of the list — 20 players — compete on teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
In Syracuse’s first six games, Hawryschuk has averaged three goals a game, but her shooting percentage is under 44 percent on the year. Levy has 21 points in six games (12 goals, 9 assists) while shooting almost 55 percent this season.
Hawryschuk most recently has racked up eight goals in her last two games, both wins against top-15 teams. Levy has scored over three points in every contest this season. The two highlight the No. 16 scoring offense in the nation, but neither are in the top-40 in points or goals per game.
Last year’s winner, Sam Apuzzo, is the favorite on the list. She had seven goals and nine total points in a game against the Orange this season. The award has never been won by a Syracuse player.
No. 4 Syracuse will next take on No. 7 Virginia in the Carrier Dome on Saturday at 4 p.m.
