The Orange competed in two competitions this weekend.

Syracuse competed this weekend at the Hemery Invitational while others traveled to Iowa for the Iowa State Classic. On Friday, junior Noah Affolder showed no signs of jet lag, winning the men’s 3000-meter at ISU by nearly five seconds. Affolder’s time was 8:01.24 — a personal best — but still 12 seconds shy of the course record held by former Orange Justyn Knight in 2016.

Senior Kadejhia Sellers found the podium multiple times at BU, winning the 200m and finishing second in the 400m. Her 23.95 seconds in the 200m was a personal best, and her 53.56 400m was a season’s best — just .68 seconds shy of her own school record.

Freshman Alexis Crosby finished behind Sellers at 12th in the 400m with a personal best of her own at 55.32. Crosby also set a personal best in the 200m, finishing in 11th with a time of 24.57 seconds. Junior Dasia Pressley also competed in the 200m and finished second behind Sellers.

In the women’s 3000m, juniors Rachel Bonner and Madeleine Davison finished 11th at 9:22.35 and 16th at 9:27.65, respectively, — two more personal bests.

On Saturday, senior Iliass Aouani finished third in the men’s 5000m. His time of 13:51.87 was a personal best as well. Junior Joe Dragon finished 14th in the men’s 3000m with his own personal best of 8:07.46. Freshman Noah Beveridge also ran his fastest 3000m to date, finishing in 25th at 8:16.04.

SU returns to central New York on Feb. 16 at Cornell University. The Marc Deneault Invitational is their last meet before ACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 21-23.
