Syracuse rises in Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after season-opening win

No. 11 Syracuse (1-0) moved up two spots in this week’s Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. The Orange started the preseason at No. 13 and rose after defeating Connecticut 18-6 on Friday afternoon.
In its first game of the season, SU opened with eight unanswered goals in its first eight minutes of action. At one point, Syracuse was up 15-1 before pulling the bulk of its starters. Emily Hawryschuk, Morgan Alexander and Meaghan Tyrrell all recorded five points apiece, and Sam Swart netted three goals in the dominant win.
In the poll, Boston College, SU’s opponent on Saturday remained No. 1. The Orange will play five of the top seven teams on the list including No. 2 Maryland, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 6 Northwestern and No. 7 Loyola. Syracuse also surpassed ACC foe Virginia Tech, which dropped to No. 12.
Syracuse will play tomorrow night against Binghamton at 6 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
