Tucker Dordevic had 15 goals in his first season with Syracuse last year.

Syracuse sophomore midfielder Tucker Dordevic has been ruled out for the season, SU head coach John Desko announced Wednesday afternoon.

Dordevic aggravated a foot injury in a practice in the week following the Orange’s scrimmage against Yale. The injury will require “a procedure,” Desko said, and though rehabilitation will potentially give Dordevic enough time to return towards the end of the 2019 season, Desko expects the now-sophomore to use a medical redshirt season to maintain his three remaining years of eligibility.

“We feel it’s a big loss for us,” Desko said.

Dordevic started all 15 games in the midfield for the Orange as a freshman last season, the most starts by a true freshman offensive player in over a decade, per SU Athletics. He recorded 20 total points, including 15 goals and five assists.

The Orange return to action Saturday for a matchup with Albany, following their first season-opening loss since 2013 last Saturday against Colgate.
