Syracuse went winless in the ACC last season under head coach Phil Wheddon

Last season, Syracuse recorded a disappointing 3-15 record, going 0-10 in conference play and ending on a 13-game losing streak. The Orange’s 2019 schedule, which was announced on Tuesday, features eight NCAA tournament teams, making the prospects of a bounce back season even tougher.

Five opponents finished the season ranked in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll: Florida State (No. 1), Duke (No. 10), Virginia (No. 11), North Carolina State (No. 22) and Wake Forest (No. 25). The Orange will host Florida State, the defending national champions, at home on Sept. 29.

Syracuse’s schedule includes eight home games and nine road games in the regular season, with two exhibition matchups as well. The Orange will begin their regular season at home on Aug. 25 against Colgate and then Siena on Aug. 29. That will segway into a four game non-conference road trip featuring Auburn on Sept. 5 and St. John’s on Sept. 12. After a home game against Fordham on Sept. 15, Syracuse will open Atlantic Coast Conference play on the road against Pittsburgh on Sept. 20. The Orange’s regular season will conclude at home on Oct. 31 against Virginia.

“We’re very excited about our 2019 schedule,” first-year head coach Nicky Adams said in a press release. “Our non-conference schedule presents a challenging group of teams, but it will help prepare us for Atlantic Coast Conference play starting in September.”

Adams heads to Syracuse from Rice, where she tallied an 87-55-23 record over nine seasons. The Orange will first take the field for an exhibition match at home against Albany on Aug. 11 before heading to Rutgers on Aug. 17 for a final preseason game.
