Mae Batherson has scored five goals and recorded 16 assists during her freshman campaign.

Freshman defender Mae Batherson has won her third College Hockey America rookie of the week honor of 2020, the conference announced on Monday. The New Minas, Nova Scotia native had a five-point weekend in Syracuse’s (12-16-2, 10-4-2) series against Lindenwood.

Batherson had a goal and an assist on Friday night against Lindenwood, the former a game-winner on the power play with just minutes remaining. On Saturday, Batherson was back on the score sheet with a goal and two assists. Her goal was a solo effort, as she picked up the puck on the side boards and weaved her way through three Lions skaters and then backhanded it past Lindenwood’s goalie.

The freshman’s 21 points on the season are tied for third on the team and now lead the CHA in freshman scoring. She’s already set a new record for points scored by a freshman defender.
