Two men have died after being shot Friday near the University Neighborhood, the Syracuse Police Department confirmed.

Stephen Phelps-Martans, 37, was shot on the 300 block of Westcott Street shortly before 2:45 p.m., SPD confirmed in a press release. Hakeem Phillips, 31, was shot on the 2000 block of East Fayette Street just after 10 p.m. The locations of the two shootings are a 10 minute walk apart.

Both men were transported in serious condition to Upstate University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
