Teisha Hyman was awarded All-ACC honorable mention honors in her first full season with the Orange since 2019. She is the only SU player to receive any conference honors this season. The award continues a streak of seven consecutive seasons where an SU guard has received All-ACC honors.

Hyman finished the regular season ranked fifth in the ACC in scoring with an average of 15.9 points per game. As the Orange’s primary ball handler, she also sits at sixth in the league in assists, averaging 3.8 per game. Still, her biggest presence at times came defensively as a part of Syracuse’s full-court press as she led the league in 70 steals over the year.

Last season, Hyman wasn’t even on the court for SU. Aiding an ACL injury from her freshman year, Hyman sat out the entirety of the season. She tore both ACLs in the span of two years, and she was unsure whether she wanted to return to the sport.

“My drive is just different,” Hyman said. “I don’t have the same determination as I used to because sometimes I just get tired of hurting and (I) call it a day.”

Hyman said that this season she was able to get her confidence back, finishing the regular season with 17 straight games scoring in double figures, recording double-digits in all but four games.

She had a career-high 31 points in a 67-65 win over Pittsburgh and recorded the program’s fifth-ever triple-double with 27 points, 15 assists and 11 steals against Central Connecticut State — two rebounds shy of a quadruple-double.
