Former Syracuse forward Mounir Hima announced he is transferring to Howard on social media Thursday. Hima transferred to SU after spending his freshman season at Duquesne, where he averaged 1.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks across 9.6 minutes per game.

In his first year at Syracuse, Hima averaged 1.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 7.4 minutes per contest. The best game of his SU career came versus St. John’s on Nov. 22, 2022 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Hima scored four points, notched eight rebounds and blocked seven shots in 19 minutes played.

Besides that game against the Red Storm, Hima has served mostly as a reserve for the Orange. In 2023-24, he saw his minutes bumped down to a career-low 3.4 per game while averaging just 0.3 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.2 blocks a contest.

Hima entered the transfer portal on April 10 and becomes the sixth former Syracuse player to find a new home this offseason. William Patterson is the only SU transfer yet to commit to a new school.
